Children

For Their Well-Being

For some, childhood and adolescence can be an especially difficult time. Certain learning disabilities and disorders can be challenging, as can emotional issues such as anxiety and behavioural difficulties. According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 10-20% of Canadian youths can be affected by a mental health issue, though only 1 in 5 of those children gets the services they need.

We provide confidential services in Thunder Bay to address behavioural, psychological, and social issues, as well as identified disorders. Our specialized team of mental health professionals provides high-quality psychological services to help children and teens overcome their challenges.

Psychotherapy

and Counselling

We provide psychotherapy sessions that are relaxed and non-judgemental. Our therapeutic approach is Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which focuses on the "here and now" and helps children understand the connection between their thoughts and feelings. CBT focuses on building skills and developing more positive thoughts and behaviours. Unhelpful ways of thinking are identified, and then we explore ways of changing these unhelpful thoughts.

We provide psychotherapy for various childhood issues, such as:

  • Anxiety/worry/panic
  • Social problems (shyness, social anxiety)
  • Fears/phobias
  • Depression/sadness
  • Self-esteem/body image
  • Trauma
  • Bullying
  • Grief/loss
  • Family issues such as separation/divorce
  • Coping with ADHD/learning disabilities

We can provide your child with the professional psychological support he or she needs to address these issues and move forward.
