Psychotherapist

Sullivan + Associates Clinical Psychology is a full-service psychology clinic with 65 employees and associates focused on providing assessment, psychotherapy/counselling, consultation and workshop services.

During the past 18 years, we have been proud to provide these services to over 40,000 children, adolescents, and adults in Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario.

As pertains to psychotherapy/counselling services, we are a private clinic that provides service for “out-of-pocket” clients, as well as service for clients who have access to different funding options, such as Extended Health Insurance, Indigenous Services Canada, WSIB, Veteran Affairs, Metis Nation Ontario, Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance, Blue Cross and Jordan’s Principle.

We offer psychotherapy/counselling services for a wide array of mental health issues that impact children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. At our clinic, Psychotherapists often focus on serving specific client populations (i.e., children, adolescents, adults, couples, families), as well as providing treatment for specific health issues (i.e., anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, etc.). We view psychotherapy/counselling, as part science and part art. As such, we are interested in hiring a Psychotherapist who is well-versed and commonly utilizes evidence-based psychotherapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), etc., but is flexible enough in their approach to be collaborative with their client and utilize the approach that is most comfortable and effective for their client. We are also interested in a Psychotherapist who can help their client to make mid-course corrections when they experience challenges, as well as exercise creativity to help clients learn to consistently implement strategies they find helpful, so they can achieve their mental health goals.

At our clinic, we are interested in hiring a Psychotherapist with a Masters’ degree in a mental health field such as Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or Social Work, to work on a subcontract basis to provide psychotherapy/counselling services. Experience with providing psychotherapy/counselling for couples and families would be particularly beneficial. We are also seeking a Psychotherapist who is an autonomous member of a regulatory college, such as the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).

At Sullivan + Associates Clinical Psychology, there are 40 Psychotherapists and Psychologists/Psychological Associates who provide psychotherapy/counselling services, so there are numerous opportunities for consultation or collaboration. We offer monthly supervision meetings for all members of our clinical team. These meetings are led by a Clinical Psychologist and each meeting involves psychoeducation about a different mental health topic, as well an opportunity for case consultation. Autonomous clinical team members are able to bill their hourly clinic rate for participating in supervision meetings.

At Sullivan + Associates, we consider it very important to educate our clients during psychotherapy/counselling sessions and as such, our Psychotherapists have access to our extensive clinical library that is labelled from a to z with mental health resources to help treat children, adolescents and adults.

Our ideal candidate would provide psychotherapy/counselling services at our clinic. Related duties such as session preparation, writing letters or reports, completing case notes, etc. can be completed outside of the clinic. The Psychotherapist would be paid on a per client/per report basis with rates varying based on years of experience and performance at the clinic.

We are interested in a Psychotherapist with a minimum of 2 years experience in providing psychotherapy/counselling services.
