FAQs
Do I have to be referred by my physician?
No, a referral is not required to make an appointment. However, some extended health plans may require a physician referral to access coverage.
Are fees for services covered by insurance?
Fees for private psychological services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). However, coverage for psychological services is often included in extended health benefits plans, although the extent of coverage varies from plan to plan. We recommend that you check with your employer to find out about your coverage.
How long do I have to wait for an apointment?
We do our best to avoid wait lists. Normally you can schedule an appointment for psychotherapy within 1 to 2 weeks. The wait time for specialized assessments may be longer.
What happens to the personal information I discuss with my therapist?
Information disclosed to your therapist (including case notes, records, and psychological test results) is confidential and cannot be disclosed without your consent. If you request that your therapist disclose information about you to another individual (for example, a medical doctor, lawyer, or educational institution), you will be asked to sign a form authorizing the release of your personal health information.
